03/15 Getting ready to hit the road again Tuesday morning. It started raining the day I got here and finally stopped this afternoon. It would have been very uncomfortable riding though weather like this but I’m sure I’ll run into it at some point so I’ll chalk this up to good timing on my part. Been eating a lot of fudge brownies and ice cream since I got here. :) Good stuff.

Went to REI (twice since I got here) and purchased a replacement Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad. I’ll do my best not to lay this one down on a bed of thorns. The guy there almost talked me into getting one of the self inflating Therm-a-Rest ones but it’s not as thick as the BA and it’s not rated as well for cold weather. Also picked up some more camp fuel (used ~20oz of 30 in 2 weeks), 3 more Mountain House meals (for emergencies) and Odor-less storage bags.

My bike is still in the shop getting a tune-up. Should have it back tomorrow. The derailleurs are being adjusted, the chain cleaned and some of the other components checked. $100. This will be the first maintenance on the bike since I got it so that should hold it over for a while.

Decided not to leave my DSLR camera here. Nothing would be worse for me than missing a good photo op. Still managed to come up with about 6 lbs of stuff that I probably won’t need along the way so I’ll be leaving it behind.

Can’t wait to be back on the road. No idea where I’m going to sleep that night but that’s part of the fun.

Hey man – glad to hear you decided not to leave behind the 40D. My morning ritual of checking on your progress just wouldn’t be the same without the awesome photos.

I forgot to ask. Is there a “special” home cooked meal you would like to have? If not, it’s P & J for ya. LMAO
