04/07 Ahhhh, there’s nothing more refreshing than riding into a cold 30 mph headwind all day.
Left Crystal’s around 11am and headed over to the Budweiser brewery and took some pictures. Then it was down to the river for a close-up of the Arch and some other sights in the area. Helped a guy fix his gear shifter and then rode along the levee until I made it to the Riverfront Trail. Once on it the wind came at me full force. Pedaling was tough but I dug down for 12 miles and arrived at the Chain of Rocks Bridge that spans the Mississippi and would take me back into Illinois. The bridge was pretty cool. It used to be part of historic Route 66 so there was all kinds of nostalgia on the bridge by way of an old fire truck and different signs.
Once over the bridge it was a short trip to the Lewis and Clark State Park. The only problem was that a closed gate was blocking the road that lead further into the park. Of course there was no one else around to ask if they knew if it was even open. I’m not even 100% sure I was at the right place. There were no signs for a campground and the only “sign” was 1 foot square marker that just read, “Historic Site” and had an arrow pointing to the closed gate. If I could find a phone number on their web site I’d call them and ask.

WHAT???????????????????? Just pictures at Budweiser? No beer? No tour? LOL It’s unfortunate about the wind and cold. You keep warm. Love you.
That’s funny. I did a ride in STL a couple of years ago and our pictures are almost identical. I love that power plant building.
