04/12 This will be a short one. Need to eat something. Starving. Thought it was going to be raining so I’d planned to stop in Jefferson City after getting up extra early. No rain appeared so I toured the area around the state capitol for a bit and then headed over to the hotel (Hotel DeVille). The streets were deserted so I pretty much stopped in the middle of the road and took pictures.

Riding into the city on US 54 was an experience. At first I wasn’t sure if there was even a bike lane that crosses it so I turned back and rode up an overpass to scout it out. Sure enough there it was–a 4 foot lane that gets shared by bicyclists going in either direction. So I rode back down and started riding with traffic heading right for me at 60 mph. People were moving over into one of the other 2 lanes which was nice.

Pretty quiet day. Nothing was open but I’d stocked up on food yesterday. Rain tomorrow I’ll bet.

I forgot to mention…Sandy, the co-owner of the campground, was nice enough to let me fill up my water at her house so I didn’t have to drink filtered stream water. :)

Happy Easter!

The Katy trail is a fantastic place to ride. Hope you have good weather and enjoy Missouri. It’s not as specatular as Colorado or Montana but it has a lot of subtle beauty. Happy Easter.

How are those knees. WD-40 is used by all these old timers in Tennessee.

  3. Cool pictures. I am glad you are slowly yet surely making your way here. Any idea of when you might make it to Calgary?

If I had to guess I’d say early June but it’s hard to tell because I’ll make good time in the plains and probably slow down in the mountains. I’ll try to take a better guess in early May though.
