05/21 Sundance, Wyoming– where the Sundance Kid got his name (after being locked up in jail here for 18 months) and where I’ll be spending the night. Arrived here after a morning of riding up and down the hills and then into a huge valley surrounded by pine-covered mountains on both sides. The rain that came through last night left me alone but it was chilly out (mid-50’s).
Checked into the Bear Lodge Motel, had a shower and then walked over to the Crook County Museum and Art Gallery. They had a tonne of old-West paraphernalia and of course, lots of stuff from when the Sundance Kid was jailed here (for example, all the original chairs that were in the courthouse). No picture taking though. The town isn’t quite like how I expected it to be. I guess when I think of Old Western towns I always picture boardwalks.
Jackson, Wyoming is probably the one place I’ve been that really had an old West feel to it.
I did a little research and found the place where I stayed last night. It’s called the The Flying V Cambria Inn. When I was getting ready to leave this morning I went to see how much it was to stay in the campground since no one had come by. The owner was there and he said it was on the house. Thanks Larry!
Devil’s Tower is only 22 miles from here so not sure if I’m going to stay there tomorrow night. The cold I thought I was getting seems to be going away. Maybe it waqs just a 24 hour flu or something.

Great photos, Scott! Brought back memories of having been to a few of those places.
Re: Garmin – even with updates they screw up and it seems to be worse in cities. I had a great time with it in Asheville
Ride safe!
