05/25 After a grueling ride this morning I made it into Gillette, the “Energy Capital of the Nation”. I could have guessed that from the many, many trains that passed by filled with coal. Staying at the Crazy Woman Campground of all places. I’ll leave it at that.
As you can see from my erratic track through the city I was trying to find a free campground but no such luck. It’s $21 to stay in their “tent city” here. Kind of high but the shower was good and they have internet (or someone nearby does). I need to start looking into a cheap, lightweight wifi antenna for my laptop though. I kept losing signal in the motel for the last 2 days and it was driving me nuts. Sarah, I think some of the positions I was in trying to get signal qualify as yoga.
Feeling much better today but I didn’t have a lot of energy to spare. Took Tylenol PM last night and it knocked me out until the morning. Had to battle the wind to get here which didn’t help. No rain though. Saw some wildlife which always perks me back up a little though. I spotted an owl in a tree so I took some pics of it and for 500 yards or so a deer ran next to me on the other side of the road.
My first big mountain range crossing is coming up in 3 days. The Big Horn Mountains sit smack between me and Yellowstone. I’ll be climbing right up and over those bad boys. I could go around but that’s lame.
Should get close to 10k feet. Can’t wait. It looks like there’s even a campground at the top. I’ve been refreshing myself on bear safety just to be on the safe side since they have more than a couple living in the area. If one of them does happen to eat me please make sure the rangers don’t kill it.

If the bears come after you please don’t pummel them with your camera , I wouldn’t mind having dibs on it.
About the bears…I heard your suppose to play dead. ( at least , before they actually kill ya ).. Love the owl pic!
Don’t worry about the bears eating you. They don’t like “MULLIN” blood! It’s way to sweet for them.
