06/02 $6.49! That’s how much I paid for 1 pt. of beer. Crazy. It was pretty good though. So I rolled into Yellowstone about 11am. It was hard crawling out of the tent this morning. It’s been raining almost non-stop all day. Not really hard but enough to fog up my sunglasses which I like wearing when it’s cold because my entire face is covered in black and it looks bad-ass. :) When I was passing over Sylvan Pass it turned to snow. That’s where I took the picture of me vs. the giant snow drift. I’d actually past it but went back to take the picture. Glad I did.

I never did get cold and even had to take my rain jacket off climbing up to the pass because I was so hot. The steam rising off me probably looked funny to the passing cars. I have my rain gear strategically hung inside my tent to dry out. It’s working out OK but it kind of stinks in here. Good thing the buffalo dung is masking it.

The climb wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The elevation gain ended up being about 3000 feet. No huge downhills so when I arrived at Bridge Bay Campground I was still at 7800 feet. Didn’t break 9000 feet so the Big Horn mountains are still the highest I’ve been. Talked with a really nice girl working at the gas station in Pahaska Tepee. At the store in Fishing Bridge 10 people must have stopped to ask about my trip. At least I’m getting better about having my picture taken.

Traffic isn’t bad. Might be because of the weather. I’m just glad I didn’t get whacked on the back of the head by an RV mirror. Saw a little wildlife but no bears. I’m kind of hoping I see one soon so I don’t spend the rest of my trip bummed about not seeing one. I’m sure I will at some point but it’s kind of bugging me. I was talking to a couple who were taking pictures inside the park and they said they saw a grizzly at Canyon. I wanted to push them into the lake.

Tomorrow I head for Madison. I hope it stops raining so I can take some better pictures. I’ve been to Yellowstone once before and took a million pictures but it’s different this time.
