06/17 How bad would it be if I rode almost 4200 miles just to have it all come to an end because I fell in the freaking shower? Pretty damn bad I think. The tub in this motel is not normal. Instead of a smooth, gradual slope to the middle it has an almost V shape going down to the middle from the sides. So I’m standing there trying not to get sand-blasted by the brutally high water pressure when my naked ass slips and my back almost lands on the edge of the tub. Could the couple Pilsner’s have had anything to do with it? Perhaps. I’ve never fallen in the shower in my entire life (nor written about it) and I’ve certainly been in them after a beer or two.

Speaking of Pilsner, a Canadian beer for those US people, holy cow is it ever expensive here! $10.35 for a 6-pack (cans). Nothing else is cheap either. You know those sample things of cereal you can get in an 8-pack? Guess how much? $5.85! I’m going to be broke by the time I get out of here. At least the motel was normal at $55 a night.

The roads here are good and bad. The actual surface is OK but the shoulders are horrible. They are usually pretty wide but a lot of them are just hard-packed gravel. About half way into the ride a wicked storm blew over me and it rained like I couldn’t believe. Riding up a hill on that kind of surface when it’s wet is not fun.

The lower population here makes a dramatic difference in land use and all day I was almost amazed to see huge mountain valleys free of cattle or lumber yards, long stretches of forest that weren’t fenced off and lakes completely devoid of houses. A lot of the land was marked as being owned by the Crown which was pretty cool. For at least 10 miles I rode along a valley road just below a mountain range called The Steeples. Massive. I hated that it was cloudy the entire time. Hopefully at least one picture turns out OK.

Still in a bad mood about being able to see my sisters. :( I’m debating if I should stay here one more day. My butt needs a break.

The shower incident had me laughing out loud as my children looked at me like I was some kind of freak. LOL I am so happy and so proud of you. The amazing thing is that you haven’t encountered a bear yet. Maybe they have something against ‘Gummi Bears”. Glad you didn’t have to be strip searched at the border. I’m excited that you almost are with your sisters. (My nieces, except sadly I’ve never met Stephanie except when she was a baby and I barely remember Jennifer when she first came to FL) Good Luck and “Keep on Truckin”.

Honestly, did you have to share the shower scene? My retina’s have now been scarred with that horrible image.
