07/25 I’m so mad at myself right now. I just got raided by chipmunks! The little monsters waited until I was down by the lake and then they struck. They jumped right on my pannier that I had graciously left open for them and made off with 2 cookies and a cherry turnover.

The reason I was down by the lake was to see if I could track down the leak in my air mattress. It looks like there are 3 tiny holes that need repair. If I can get those fixed my back will be happy since I end up sleeping on the ground by the time morning rolls around.

The ride was today was great. Left this morning after buying food for the chipmunks at the bakery and then rode along admiring the huge, barren mountains on both sides. For most of the day I was riding to the South-West until I rounded the bend at Jakes Corner and the road started back up North. The sun was out all day but the wind was still a bit cool so I had to wear a jacket.

Had a great lunch at the cafe in Jakes Corner. The girl working there hooked me up with a free cinnamon bun which, hands down, was the best one I’ve had so far. The rest of the day was fairly flat and it stayed that way along the very large Marsh Lake. Whitehorse tomorrow but the bike shop is closed so I’ll stay in town and get my new tire put on Monday before I leave.

Met 3 touring riders today. Paul (web site) and Chris (no web site) met up in Dawson City I believe and are both riding down to Argentina. The other guy was by himself and he’s heading to Seattle. He started in Anchorage. I think his name was Michael but it probably wasn’t.

I wonder who was responsible for pilfering the goods Alvin, Theodore or Simon. Better put those things on a “Leach”
