Staying up so late last night was a bad idea. Set the alarm for 8am so I’m running on about 3 hours sleep. After packing up I headed over to wash my bike. Once the KWT was cleaned up I jumped back on for the quick ride to the bike shop. The manager said be there at 10am and they’d start working on it right away.
I ended up arriving at 10:30am but it didn’t matter because the mechanic wasn’t there. He made it in at 12pm. The new part for the hub went on without a hitch but as things often happen in bike shops something else cropped up. There’s a low spot in the tire so when you look down it almost looks like it’s wobbling. This ended up happening because #2 mechanic let all the air out of the tire for some reason and the tire didn’t fit back on perfectly. #1 mechanic, the same one that was running late, tried to reset it but it’s still not right. When I get down to Anchorage I’ll see if they can pull the low spot out. The guy in Whitehorse saw the same thing but he had a tool to fix it. Argh.
For lunch I headed across the street to a place called College Town Pizzeria. As soon as I pulled up to park my bike a guy came out who I recognized immediately. It was Roland, another cyclist I’d met a couple days ago. He and his wife Belinda are on their way down to Argentina from Prudoe Bay. Their website is www.cyclingwithsally.com. On their site I’m the guy that said to Belinda, “Don’t worry I’m a human.”
On the way out of the pizza place I told the woman who was running the front desk that I’d ridden from Florida and of all the nice people I’ve met in stores, lodges, etc., she was the nicest. That got me a big smile. She really was the sweetest lady though.
I’ve heard from a few people that my web site looks huge in IE and it only started doing it a week or so ago. I only use Firefox so I hadn’t noticed it and the version of IE I have installed (7.0.5730.13) seems to display it OK. If it looks abnormally wide to you please let me know what version of IE you are using. Might be some weird HTML that got injected into a blog post.

Hey Scott,
Good to see you post. Thought a grizzly might have got you.
Yes, your site does look big in IE, though not as bad as it did before your most recent posts. Running IE 8 here. For people having trouble with your website using IE 8, click the Compatibility View icon (looks like a torn piece of paper next to the refresh icon. Quoting Microsoft: “Compatibility View: websites designed for older browsers will often look better, and problems such as out-of-place menu’s, images, or text will be corrected”.
So it looks like Microsoft might have broken your site. LOL, leave it to MS to “invent” a new html standard and break stuff.
Mike you are a rock star! Makes perfect sense. At this point I’m more worried about moose getting me.
