09/08 Had a little trouble getting to sleep the night before last so I decided to stay in Namaimo an extra day. The rest did me some good because I whizzed right by the CG I was going to stay at and rode to within 3 miles of the ferry I need to catch tomorrow. This is the one that takes me over by Olympic National Park in Washington state.

Almost all day was spent riding on the Trans-Canada highway. I’m amazed I didn’t get a flat considering all the glass on the shoulder. When I arrived in Mill Bay I waited about 45 minutes for the ferry and then enjoyed a smooth ride over to Brentwood Bay. While I was waiting I did get to see a couple seals swimming right off shore. That was kind of cool.

Of course there was a big hill waiting for me when I got off the ferry. I was hoping there would be a CG on the way into Victoria but no such luck. That hill was one of many today. I wasn’t planning on being in the city for the night so I didn’t spend any time trying to find a CG. So I’m staying at the cheapest place in town, The Friendly Inn. Got the room for $50.

I hate to skip right through the capital city of BC, where I’ve spent a lot of time in the last couple months, but I’m not sure there’s anything I really want to see. I’ll run up to the front desk and grab some brochures just in case.

Hopefully no one noticed but I was messing with my site off and on yesterday. I was trying add back the stats that had been there up until the last time I updated the WordPress theme I’m using. The upgrade overwrote all the code I’d written to display custom fields (distance, weather, mood, etc.). Oops. Well I took care of that problem and also wrote some easy code to show stats in imperial and metric. Now if I actually knew some HTML I could display it in a better way. It looks horrible now.

    Hi Scott,

Way to keep going. Is there an easy way to get back to the beginning of your trip. I thought there was a way to look back, but I can’t find it. Must be getting old. Be safe.
