09/09 At long last I’m back in the lower 48. Took the 90 minute ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles and then rode about 6 miles to the RV park. Had to tackle a couple decent hills to get here but stuff like that just kind of fades away after a shower and a beer.

This morning I headed over to the ferry terminal to get a ticket for the 3pm departure. The guy said just come back at 2:30pm and you’ll be fine. So off I went into Victoria for some sightseeing. Rode to every tourist attraction I could find. I love Victoria. It’s very bike friendly and there’s so much to see. The only regret I had is how much coffee I drank. There are a lot of coffee shops and for some reason I had to stop at almost everyone I passed. The weather was nice for the first 2 hours and then it started raining. No let up in it until it was time to head back to the terminal. You can see on the GPX track how well I covered the downtown area. :)

Met 4 other touring folks at the ferry. We hung out during the ride and then went our separate ways in Port Angeles. Great bunch of people. The 2 couples are each on kind of short tours; 8 days and 17 days. The 8 day pair are heading east and the 17 day pair are heading to CA the same way I am but they are taking Hwy 101 out of town so I might not see them again. I’m riding the 112 along the north coast and won’t be back on the 101 for a couple days.

The weather is supposed to be sunny with no rain for the next few days. That would be the greatest thing in the world.
