09/10 I wish every day could be like this. Rode along the Olympic Peninsula under sunny skies and with a nice tailwind. Had a few hills to contend with and a rather big one at the end but I just rolled right up them and kept going. I was only along the water maybe 5% of the time. The rest was riding in and out of the forest which was dotted by massive redwood trees.

As for wildlife it was pretty quiet other than seeing a deer and a hawk. No pictures of them though. Traffic was light all day. I’m back on the 101 so it’ll probably be a lot busier.

Staying at the Ravonier Tumbling Rapids Rec Area. It’s right off the highway but the river drowns out most of the noise from the passing cars. There’s no charge to stay here which was great. They even have flush toilets and potable water.

Yep I finally made it. The only reason I even came this way was because of how cool you said it was. You were right of course. I didn’t do any of the side trips into the park for hiking because that would require me to leave my bike and most of my things behind. That worries me a lot. I actually left FL with a backpack but reality set in and I realized that bicycle touring and hiking do not combine easily. So I rode along the main routes and enjoyed what I could. I’m also itching to get a little further south so I wanted to keep moving. Looking forward to seeing even more as I wind my way down the coast. SA is still the goal.
