09/17 This campground may be the best undiscovered CG on the west coast. There are no signs to direct anyone here and according to the park host it’s because the county is too cheap. I ended up riding about a mile past it before I stopped to ask for directions. It’s $5 for the night and they keep the park in great shape. There are 2 other people here (car-campers). Rabbits are quite plentifully too (Mmmm).

Spotted a couple other touring riders on the road but no one I knew and it looks like they may have crashed for the night somewhere else. Since I had a short day yesterday I may have lost the 5 riders that I’d been hanging with for the last few days. Tommy and Shannon are in Portland so I won’t be seeing them again. Touring riders are very resourceful so if any are around here I’m sure they’ll find this place. Otherwise I might be by myself until I can make some new touring buddies.

Not a lot of the coastal riding today. Most of the day was riding along bays which still provided some very impressive scenery. Nothing attacked me so that was a plus. I discovered that my sweet air horn cable is broken. The plastic tube that runs into the bottle of compressed air has cracks from the sun. I tried fixing it with a tire patch but that didn’t work. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a decent hardware store.

Tillamook had a huge cheese factory that offered tours but I wanted to eat lunch not get teased by it as it rolls along on a conveyer belt. Ended up going to Subway instead. Rockaway Beach was my favorite place of the day. It sits right along the beach and had some actual small town charm to it. I was lucky and was able to see the train that runs along the coast. My guess is that it’s just for tourists.

Beautiful weather today. Sunny skies and the wind wasn’t out of control. Love it.
