10/08 My week of rest and relaxation has arrived! I found a perfect motel in Monterey to crash for a while. It’s only a mile or so from the downtown area so getting around for some siteseeing should be simple enough. Tomorrow I’m going to check out the aquarium and then maybe head over to the maritime museum.

While I’m here I can’t be slacking off too much. I really need to plan my trip down through Mexico and South America. I’ll see if I can get some maps together and do a little research on the places I’ll be riding into. The only problem with getting this done is the wifi signal in the motel room isn’t strong enough so I have to sit outside. They said that should be fixed this weekend. I’m also having big problems with my laptop. I thought it was just the F1 key that was stuck but now I think the Fn key is stuck too. This one is causing all kinds of weird things to happen. The touch screen is also acting up so half the time I can’t click on anything. I’ll be sending it in for some warranty work after all I guess. Since I’ll be laptop-less for a couple weeks I think I’m going to sell my iPod Classic and get an iPod Touch. At least that way I’ll be able to access email once in a while.

Picked up another Airzound Bike Horn so I have 115 db of air-fueled honking power available for any cars that get in my way. :) This time I wrapped the plastic tubing in duct tape so the sun doesn’t destroy it.

Ran into Melissa yesterday so we ended up hanging out for the afternoon and then riding up into camp after some touring around Monterey. We’ve been camping in the same CG for the last 2 nights but didn’t really get a chance to talk. The place we stayed was called Veterans Memorial Park CG. Its right next to the Presidio of Monterey so at 7am this morning everyone was treated to a rousing bugle call. This was after a 3am raid by about 20 raccoons. This time we were prepared and they left empty-handed.

AirZound hose is available at any aquarium store. I used to keep my air bottle strapped to the front of my rear rack, so I needed a longer hose. I cut the original hose, put in a nifty coupler and a length of longer hose and life was good.
