12/05 Whew! They have a bank here so I’m rich in pesos. This time I took out a little more so I don’t get this low again. My big highlight for the day was getting to enjoy a big, fat hamburger for lunch.
Good stuff. I’ve been craving one for a couple weeks now. Guerrero Negro, the gateway to Baja California Sur and only 4 km from the well-marked 28th parallel, is much more developed than then other little towns I’ve passed through. There are lots of motels, restaurants and markets to choose from. Looks like I’ll be having some Chinese food tonight. There’s even a laundrymat right across the street so Ill have some clean clothes to wear.
Met a British touring rider heading up from Argentina. We chatted at the side of the road for almost half an hour. Talking to English people is a riot because they are so brutally direct when they have something to say. Let’s just say he’s not a fan of El Salvador. I wish I could remember the guy’s name. He had loads of good info about Central America which I’ll add to my arsenal.
After fumbling around with the pay phone here I hit a button that changed the digital display to English. That made things a lot easier. Got in calls to some family so they know I’m still alive. I’m going to hang out here for 2 days and rest up for the long, dry trek down to La Paz.

Hi Scott ! Looks like your doing pretty good. Glad to hear you haven’t run into any bad guys . Nice pics too, so desolate looking.. Be Safe…
Hey Aunt Leslie. Yep, doing OK. No bad guys yet. It’s crazy how little development there is outside of the towns. No ranch houses, farm buildings, nothing. Hope things are good up there.
hi i didn’t realize that you were on that little tip of mexico…i hope there is a ferry to get you across…shane said you called the other day but i wasnt home..pls try again next weekend! love you:)
I hope so too because it would suck to have to ride all the way back up again! Just kidding… there is one in La Paz. The ferry from there takes 12 hours and then you are in Mazatlan.
