New country tomorrow! It feels kind of weird only being in Belize for a week but there really wasn’t anything I wanted to see further south and everything is so expensive here. The exchange rate is $1.95 Belize dollars for every US dollar so my money doesn’t stretch as far. San Ignacio is also a tourist trap. Things here are about 30-50% more than comparable things in other towns. A good example is a small load of laundry I had done. Normally this costs me $4.50 US at the most. No where in the US, Canada or Mexico did I ever pay more. It was $7 US at Martha’s Laundry here in town.

Karin and Marten made it into town so we’ve been hanging out for a couple days. It was great seeing them again. They are like my road family now. :) They are heading the opposite way but if the timing works out we might meet up again in Honduras.

Not owning pants has been bothering me so I bought a pair this afternoon. Not sure what I was thinking because they are horrible. I’m going to bring them back in the morning and exchange them for something a little more visually appealing. I just need something to wear around town other than the blue shorts I have because they are way too “beachy” for Guatemala. I’m just a dumbass for not taking a bus back to the hotel in Mexico where I left the pant leg. At Karin’s suggestion I used the remaining pant leg for a camping pillow. I sewed up both ends and can stuff some clothes inside through the zippered opening. No more waking up with my face stuck to the Thermarest. :)

They made me eat this!!!

There were a million flying ants by the street lights.

And the frogs loved them.

The horse and the rider ended up swimming down the river together.

Big trees along the river.

This bridge is so low the river covers it sometimes.

If you haven’t seen this website, Scott, I thought you might find their setup interesting. I saw them in Arizona in January and thought they were a local family taking a break beside the road.

Isn’t it great to run into ‘on the road’ family? Continued safe travels.

WHAT is that stuff in that pan? Zach found it repulsive.
