When I dropped my bike off late Friday afternoon at Bisono’s, Hernando (the owner) said to stop around 5pm on Saturday to see how things were going. Still expecting the bike not to be ready until Wednesday morning you can imagine my surprise when I showed up at 5pm and my bike was ready. Everything on my list was complete including a couple things I didn’t ask for but were needed (bottom bracket cleaning and pedal maintenance).
The total cost was about $210 which is very reasonable considering he spent almost the entire day working on my bike. He also sold me a pretty sweet tool that lets you pop off the rear cassette without using a chain whip tool (in case I break a spoke on that side). But it didn’t end there. For the next hour he showed me how to actually remove the cassette and reinstall it using the tool.
Switched the rendering of the GPX files back over to XML Google Maps because I miss the elevation profiles and it doesn’t look like OSM will be supporting automatic track zoom or elevation info any time soon. I’m sure WPG2 will break again since I haven’t changed anything since I stopped using it last time. On a happy note I figured out how to get the Bicycle Health page looking half way decent considering its a save-as HTML from OpenOffice Calc.
The weather has been gross for 2 days, non-stop drizzle and cold, but I’m leaving tomorrow regardless. It gave me a good chance to get caught up on this season of Dexter so hanging out here wasn’t a total loss.
Saw something strange yesterday. On the way over to the bike shop 3 horses were running full gallop down the street toward the downtown area. This was on a main road leading into the city. It would be like seeing the same thing on Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. Not sure what prompted them to run into it city but they didn’t look too happy especially with a line of traffic following along behind them.
