11/16 My rear kickstand finally died today. This was especially bad considering what I had to go through to get the front one replaced when it broke. Luck was on my side though. Tulua has more bicycle shops in a one square block area than I’ve ever seen in any city and any country. The 2nd place I went to had one that fit nicely over the mount plate where the old one was. The cost was just over $3.

I’m back in the land of cold showers. 5000 feet seems to be the line between enjoyable showers and ones that cause shrinkage. The guy that runs the place was telling me that he plans to move to NY because running a successful business in Colombia means dealing with phone calls like this, “Hey, I know you guys are making money. Give me $500 or you’re dead.” He was pretty surprised when I told him that most travel places say Colombia is much safer since 2006.

There does appear to be a market for peanut butter in Colombia after all. Found some yesterday. :) Nice weather today. Rain didn’t start until 3pm but I was already at my home for the night.

The shiny new kickstand.
