This really isn’t a bad little city. I wish there was a supermarket but I’ll live (they have markets but none of them have powdered coffee creamer and that’s a big problem for me). The roads are in bad shape. It almost seems like they are repaving all of them at the same time. It’s pretty clean and seems safe enough. I’ve never seen so many hotels in one area and they all had big signs so you can’t miss them. This one is OK but the room is horrible. The doors do not close easily (aka quietly) which sucks at 4am when people are coming/going.

A moto-taxi driver took me over to the best bike shop in town. I didn’t catch the name of it but it’s a couple blocks off the plaza. They were very impressed that I rode the Huancabamba route. I saw a couple other long distance cyclists in their guestbook. I now have a new bike chain (spare) and a couple new tubes.

Saw a woman breastfeeding an infant while riding on the back of a motorcycle. That was a first. It’s a good thing the kid didn’t have teeth cause that road was bumpy.

Tomorrow I’m out.
