04/22 I decided to take an extra day off and relax before heading out again. My legs were still a bit sore from the hike to the falls. I don’t get to use hiking muscles that often. Semana Santa (Holy Week) is messing me up a bit. The bank is closed and I can’t ride around with a bunch 100 sole bills that no one will be able to change (S20 is about the max people will be able to change and even that’s pushing it). No luck with the coffee creamer but I did find a bike shop which means I’m rich in tubes again.

The big disappointment is the lack of a pizza place that I was craving. The one in the LP guidebook doesn’t exist and the one the hotel manager told me about is run by the worst business owner in history. It looks like there’s possibly a restaurant on the 2nd floor but none of the doors on the 1st floor have signs on them so I didn’t know how to get up there. Of course no one was around to ask.

Not a big fan of the Hostel el Dorado. The bed is too short and it has a foot board to make it even worse. The shower is horrible. The electric shower head kicks on and off at will and never gets the freezing water above just tolerable. The people that work here don’t do anything to keep the noise down at night either. At 3:30am for the 2nd night in a row someone was checking in and they just carried on a conversation like it was the middle of the afternoon. Then there’s this cat that cries non-stop. I guess it belongs to one of the managers. I finally went and said something and the guy gave it some food which stopped it. I’m glad I can be a friend to the cats but come on– you can hear the thing crying all over the hostel.
