06/03 It’s amazing how one little road can set your mood for the rest of the day. Things might have started off on a sour note before the ride down though. Apparently cows don’t sleep. All night they’d stop over by my tent, chomp on some grass and move on. Getting maybe two hours sleep probably didn’t help me deal with a bumpy very road and time wasn’t on my side.

I was in a bit of a hurry because I needed to stock up on beer. :) During the election they prohibit alcohol sales from Friday noon until Monday (the election is Sunday). Well, I found out later that restriction is pretty much only enforced in the big cities. Even so, it wasn’t a risk I was willing to take especially since I was planning to stay in Caraz until Monday. I missed the noon deadline and gave up on the whole thing hoping that I’d be able to find a place to procure some once I got to the city. Once down in the town of Yungay the road was paved and I rode along with a big smile on my face until Caraz. Being back on pavement was very nice.

Got here in Caraz and found the place that K&M recommended. They showed up not too long ago from a side trip so we’re heading out for pizza soon. Getting beer wasn’t a problem either. The internet was supposed to be extremely fast here which would have been perfect since I have some Florida planning to do but it’s as slow as any other place I’ve been.

Love the cool trees next to the lake. Looks like your silver umbrella came in handy.

    Hi, Scott,

I have been on the road so just got all caught up with you again. I’m still enjoying your photos and adventures.

I’ve been to Washington State and now headed for my other daughter’s in Kansas. Making my way to New England.

If you’d like a reminder of U.S. sites, take a look at my blog (which you inspired) http://www.anitasadventures.wordpress.com
