06/16 Took it easy today and only rode for a few hours before getting to Chavinillo. Not too much going on here but it’s a decent enough small town and the hotel selection is good. Staying in a 3-star place for $9. It’s kind of funny that a 3-star hotel room lacks a mirror, toilet seat, shower curtain, place to hang your clothes or a garbage can. :) The people running it are really nice and the bed is big (with no foot board) so I’m happy.

Acobamba was not a good place to spend the night. The freaking dogs are insane. They ran around barking at each other all night which made sleep a little hard to come by.

Tomorrow I have an easy 1,500 foot climb to a pass and then a very long 36 mile descent that’ll drop me from almost 13,000 feet to 6,400 feet. That should be fun. Glad this road has been paved. Hopefully it stays that way at least for the downhill.
