07/09 Dropped all the way down to 6500 feet after leaving Ocros. Beautiful views heading down toward the river. The temperature climbed right up there to over 100 F for a bit and I couldn’t have been happier after riding in chilly weather for days. This time I made sure I had lots of water. Saw a bunch of noisy parrots but no other wildlife. Oh, if blood sucking little flies called zancudos count there were a lot of those.
The road went from loose dirt to hard-packed dirt which made the climb up to Chincheros pretty easy. Breathing was a little easier too since the vehicles going by didn’t kick up quite as much dust. Rode through a couple little villages and got lot’s of friendly “Gringo!” calls. My favorite was about a week ago when a little kid called me, “Sénior gringo.”
This town is a bit bigger but all the main stores/hostels are up along the main road. I did ride down to the plaza but there wasn’t anything going on. There are a couple “3 star” hotels and I grabbed the first one. It’s not too bad actually for S20 (across from bakery).
Not sure what was going on with my stomach a couple days ago but whatever it was went away and I’m feeling pretty good (except my ass that is killing me from this seat).
