New record! $8.23 US for a medium-sized load of laundry and that’s just for the washer. There’s not even a bloody dryer here! What a great deal! Of course the internet is also out. At least I can watch TV. Oh wait there’s no TV. The other day when it wasn’t even the ass-raping prices that made me dislike being in this country I was thinking about taking a bus from Mendoza to somewhere further south so I could minimize my time here. Like the Ushuaia city limits. If I’m going to pay a fortune for everything at least I want it to be in a country where they have stop signs and where I don’t have to stand in piss to take a shower. I won’t do that of course but it’s nice to think about.

Mendoza isn’t a bad place to walk around as long as you watch where you’re walking. They are not big fans of covering up giant holes in the ground or leveling the sidewalks. There are lot’s of trees and the central area around the plaza is OK. Nothing to write home about though. I need to do some shopping for some new sandals and a kickstand but I’m dreading that (financially). Maybe the shoes can wait.

Not surprisingly I’ve seen very few foreign tourists. Can’t blame them. I could have skipped this city and everything north of here and not batted an eye. There’s just nothing worth seeing (except for the ladies in Salta and Tucuman–that part was OK).

I’ll try to take some pics this afternoon so this entire post isn’t an Argentina bashing one. :) I’m actually in a great mood all things considered. Just wish I was somewhere else to enjoy it. The plan is to leave tomorrow but a bad seat adjustment left my rear a bit sore so I might stay an extra day. We’ll see.

Update: went out to get lunch. $16 US. Had a small Coke and 4 Mexico taco things. I figured it would be about $10 but that’s what I get for not insisiting on the price which wasn’t on the board and she ignored me when I asked how much it was. Like almost all the food I’ve eaten in this country it had the normal amount of dirt in it from probably from not washing the lettuce. Nothing like getting a little extra crunch in every overpriced meal. I took a picture of the crappy lunch and then came back to the hostel so no other pictures. There’s nothing to see anyway. That’s probably why when you search for “mendoza argentina” in Google Images hardly any of the pictures are in the city. I’m leaving tomorrow. I can’t stand it here.

"Mexican" tacos (where'd I'd rather be).
