Quintupuray Campground, AR to San Carlos de Bariloche, AR (2736 ft)

12/08 The ash cleared out for the ride yesterday and it was a great day of riding. Lot’s of hills, especially one brutal one that switchbacks at the north end of Lago Correntoso. They are getting ready to pave everything so there were lots of guys out prepping the road.
Had lunch at a cafe in Villa La Angostura. The sandwich looked like one my mom would have stuck in my lunchbox. They had some good brownies though. Stats: 30 miles and 2107 feet of climbing.
Stayed at Ragintuco CG last night for 35 pesos. They have showers and water running to each site. The showers take a siesta from 12pm to 7pm so I had to clean off in the lake. The sign coming into the CG said they have beer but of course they don’t and nothing is close by. Would it be bad if I just started carrying around a little bottle of vodka for emergencies?
Today wasn’t bad as far as dust goes but my bike decided to give me some trouble. The rear tire is just about toast. The sidewall is split and it won’t be long before the tube pokes through. I’m hoping there’s a place in town where I can get a decent new tire. I’m taking a three night break because the hotel (Hosteria Peumayen) is perfect, it’s a four day holiday weekend and traffic sucks, the girl here is cute and I need to fix my bike.

hey, good pictures, we are jealous, good luck with finding a tire, you will manage, even a bad quality will work, what happend with your spare one. Enjoy your restdays, and the lake, the campspot you had near the lake is beautiful, ciao
Thanks. I’m going to try to find a cheap one since Schwalbe has the new Marathon Mondial tires (replacement for the XR) and I’d like to get a couple of those in Florida. I still have a good spare… it’s a foldable one and expensive so I’d rather keep it as a backup.
What is this talk of Florida????
